At Carolina Custom, we live for Jeep and truck modifications of every kind—from the simple to the complex. You may like the car you bought, but if it’s not quite meeting your needs, then you should consider upgrading different aspects of your vehicle so it’s up for any challenge you put it through.

If you aren’t quite sure what kind of modifications you’re interested in, these are five of the most common customizations we’re asked to perform in our shop. If they sound like something you’d be interested in, let us know!

Lift Kits

One of the most popular customizations for Jeeps and trucks are lift kits. If you plan on taking your ride off-roading, then an upgrade to your suspension is a must. Vehicles straight from the dealer’s lot are really only built to be driven on the road, so if you want to get up to some serious adventures in your car, plan on switching out your lift kit.

Most people are intimidated by the options when choosing the appropriate suspension upgrade, but with the right team guiding you, the choices are simple. Go into the process knowing what you need to get out of your vehicle and the customization crew will help you choose the lift kit that’s right for you.

The sky’s the limit for lift kits but remember that some lift kits are heavy duty and will slow you down on the road. Unless you plan on using your car exclusively for off-roading, you should find a happy medium—a lift kit perfect for most off-roading adventures, but still appropriate for driving on the road.

Lights

Possibly the number one customization in Jeeps are the headlights. Jeep only recently began to upgrade their headlight options on their new models, so it’s not surprising that the majority of Jeep owners are looking for better options on their rides. Some want to switch the H13 housing for an H4 housing to get more bulb options, but most are looking to upgrade to LED options.

LED lights come in reflector and projector options. The reflector lights are similar to the headlights that come with the car, but the light output is far greater than the original Jeep lights and give off a color that’s closer to daylight. Projector lights are the most expensive lighting upgrade because they use different LEDs and projector lenses for high and low beams instead of cutting off some of the light for different beams like the reflector lights do. Projector lights can even have more lenses for peripheral lighting depending on the model you buy.

As with all upgrades, it’s best to come in knowing what you need the lights for—whether you intend to do a lot of driving in remote locations with no other light sources, or if you want an upgrade for your basic suburban driving needs. This way you can resist the ultra-cool—but not super practical—customizations available.

Wheels and Tires

Wheels and tires are often the first upgrades any car-owner will try. They’re the gateway customization, but they’re also a very practical one to make. Tires are easy to install and make a big difference in your driving experience. The only problem is that there are so many options it can be hard to decide!

To choose the right custom wheels and tires, you need to take where you’re driving into consideration. Some combinations may have the look you want but won’t be suitable for the off-road driving you love. If you’re mostly driving on the road, those off-road tires may look amazing, but they won’t give you the right grip for your day-to-day travel.

But don’t panic! We mentioned the crazy number of options, and we guarantee that you can find the perfect mix of form and function to suit both your style and your needs. We know that it can be hard to envision the finished product, so we’ve created an ultimate customizer tool to help you see what all the options look like on your car model.

Custom Seats

Nothing screams luxury like custom leather seats. If you’re still in the market for a car, plan to get the basic seat covering and then bring them in to get custom leather installed. It’ll be much better than any leather seats provided by the manufacturer.

Getting custom upholstery on your seats means you get to choose from a wide variety of color options and fabrics. Our shop works with one of Europe’s top leather producers to deliver high quality, hand-stitched leather you can’t get from any car manufacturer.

You spend hours in the seat of your car, so you might as well make the seat as comfortable (and stylish) as possible.

Spray in Bed Liners

Though it’s one of the least sexy customizations on the list, it is the most practical. Covering your pickup bed with spray-in polyurethane liner ensures that every nook and cranny of your truck bed is protected from damage and eventual rust. It also looks pretty cool, too. So maybe it is a little sexy.

If you want to go one step further, you could even look into getting Assault Guard liners or even whole vehicle coatings for those cars and trucks that you expect to put through the ringer. If you don’t have a truck bed, but you plan to carry a lot of abrasive equipment in your interior cargo hold, you can invest in a spray-in liner to protect the inside surface of your car, too.

There is no limit to the number and type of customizations you can make on your car, truck, or Jeep. Whether you want to turn your Jeep into the perfect off-roading vehicle, or you want to ramp up your car’s style factor, you should look into both small and large modifications you can make to turn it into the vehicle of your dreams.

At Carolina Custom, we pride ourselves on helping customers find the perfect mix of form and function. Contact us to find out how we can help you make your car dreams a reality.
